Main Purpose; 
 
The role is mainly an RGN role, however there will be some administration and managerial duties.  
The role exists to ensure that the care operation of the centre runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. It is to ensure and to carry the responsibility for the best practice clinical care to be delivered in line with overall objectives and ethos designed to deliver individualised resident care which is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated from admission to discharge. 
 
Specific Responsibilities;  
 
To lead, manage and oversee the shift operation and to be accountable for the smooth running of the shift 
To care out resident personal care tasks 
To liase closely with the therapy team regarding implementation of personal care plans and routines in line with rehabilitaion goals 
To dispense medications and mentor care staff through medication dispensing competencies  
To be responsible for the reviewing and updating of resident care plans in conjunction with the wider MDT 
To undertake special projects with the guidance of the Service Manager  
To provide information and promote a professional, competent, approachable image to residents, colleagues and visitors, with respect and dignity at all times 
To disseminate and share information with appropriate staff promptly, efficiently, accurately as required in order to maintain high standards of care for residents  
 
General Responsibilities;  
 
To be accountable for/carry the responsibility for appropriate level decisions that need to be made regarding residents and care staff, with Service Manager support 
To support the recruitment, selection and devlopment of Support Workers as required 
To participate in audits as required

Qualifications and Experience: 
Not essential, full training will be given 
Main Purpose 
Supports and assists qualified staff in the planning and implementation of resident care. Delivering 
care to the resident as prescribed by the individual care plans. 
Key Accountabilities 
Quality 
Assists qualified staff with the implementation of individual resident care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the well being, dignity and treatment of all residents. 
Provides practical support and responsive care to residents who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation. 
Observes and monitors the well being of residents ensuring that any unusual physical, mental 
or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate. 
Develops and maintains a good professional relationship with residents, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries. 
 
Knowledge & Skills 
The role holder will have a good standard of English. Educated to NVQ 2 level would be 
advantageous but not essential. 
 
Experience 
Experience is not essential as training will be provided. 
The role holder is required to participate in the homes learning and development programme and to work towards acquiring an appropriate NVQ qualification 

 

Neurological Support Worker

Main Purpose; 
 
To participate in the delivery of safe and effective resident care, under the supervision of registered nurses, management, the person in charge (eg Team Leader) and the therapy team, and in line with residents' needs. 
 
The Support Worker will contribute to a variety of activities of resident care, to the level of experience and assessed competence that he/she has acquired. 
 
Specific Responsibilities; 
To deliver all aspects of care to residents 
To work under the supervision of the Nurse/Team Leader in charge of the shift, and be accountable to the Nurse in charge/ Team Leader and the Service Managers 
To work with residents to establish their goals and positive outcomes, and how they would like to achieve them 
To respond to call bells in a timely and efficient manner, prioritising accordingly when necessary 
To respond appropiately to families, friends and supporters of residents in order to promote person centred approaches, and to refer onto management when necessary 
To recognise and demonstrate awareness of the importance of residents' physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing, remembering and applying the 'feelings matter' philosophy at all times 
To present a positive approach towards residents and colleagues, using non-controlling language and actions 
To ensure that all relevant documentation and reports are completed, in line with procedural requirement, and during the working shift 
To meet all legal requirements within the context of promoting rights, measuring, and reducing risk. This includes but is not limited to safeguarding, mental capacity, medication administration and equality 
To be clear in communicating with residents and relatives as well as other team members and in answering questions (within the limit of your own knowledge) 
To actively participate in shift hand-over to ensure effective continuity of care 
To answer the telephone on a clear, friendly, helpful and professional manner. To take any messages accurately and refer to the Nurse/Team Leader, manager or relevant person immediately 
To assist with admitting, discharging, transferring and escorting residents in line with policies and procedures. 
To respond appropriately in the event of a health/clinical emergancy e.g. cardiac arrest 
To manage your time effectively, and perform allocated tasks within a reasonable time frame, knowing when to seek support, assistance and advice 
To assist in the maintenance of equipment and stock levels 
To identify and report any untoward incident/accident , problem or risk as soon as possible to the Nurse/Team Leader in charge 
To respect the uniqueness of each person, to act in a non-judgemental manner and promote dignity, rights and choice of the individual at all times.
